Xeno Causes: Pebbles of Hope
For our 20th anniversary, throughout 2017, Xeno Media is implementing Xeno Causes. Each staff member chooses a charity near and dear to them and Xeno Media:
- Makes a cash donation to the charity
- Publicizes the charity through our blog and social media
Our June Xeno Cause is Pebbles of Hope as selected by Albert Jankowski.
In their words:
15 million babies are born premature—that’s 1 in 10 births—every year, worldwide.
Sadly, 1 million infants continue to die each year of complications from
premature birth. Most of these deaths are preventable.
Through education, mentoring and media, Pebbles of Hope is helping make sure premature babies have a fighting chance—not just to live, but to thrive.
Using innovations in media, technology and communications to empower parents of preemies in underserved areas, Pebbles of Hope is working to end the preventable death and disability of premature babies around the world.
Why Albert supports Pebbles of Hope:
Our daughter Emily, was born 6 weeks early. After being born, Emily had to be admitted to the NICU at Christ Hospital. Our nurses reassured us that she was doing very well, but it was still very nerve racking. She would have to have a breathing tube to help her breathe and she was fed through a feeding tube. After a few days, my wife was allowed to leave, but sadly we had to leave our baby girl at the hospital. We would try to visit her multiple times a day. After spending 10 days in the NICU, Emily was able to eat and breathe on her own. She was a healthy baby and was allowed to go home.
After experiencing this, we came to realize some of the challenges premature babies and their families have to face. We had the best doctors and nurses at Christ Hospital, their dedicated staff helped Emily 24/7. I chose Pebbles of Hope to help premature babies and their families.
Today, Emily is a very happy and active girl!
